Public relations is the very flip side of your business offering and of managing your reputation in tough or controversial times, says Pieter Cronjé, an independent international consultant in communication, business growth, branding and leadership.
In the attached podcast, he quotes the marketing guru Seth Godin, who states there are two reasons why people will do business with a company: firstly because they know about you and are aware of your services and products; and secondly because they trust you. Trust, however, has to be earned. Unless you consistently over time tell your customer and clients what you do and how you benefit them, they wouldn’t know about you.
Cronjé has career experience in journalism, broadcasting, the energy industry, financial services and government. He was involved in major, multi-disciplinary projects, was Communication Director for South Africa’s first democratic election in 1994, the City of Cape Town, the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa and travelled to Brazil and Russia to assist them with their respective FIFA World Cups.
